A graduate from the Class of '86, Jim Allenson was known as a dedicated, hard working player who finished his career ranked 2nd, at the time, in overall career points. Considered the ultimate team player, his untimely death due to cancer only served to remind the URI hockey community of Jim's consistently unassuming dedication to his team's success. It is only appropriate that each season, the unsung player of the Year as voted by his teammates receive the Allenson Memorial Award.
